Omanisation is an important national goal and necessary for the future of Oman’s economy. The problem is not the goal itself, but the way it is sometimes carried out.
When employees are placed in customer service or investor-facing roles without enough training, clear authority, or proper performance monitoring, customers and investors may have a negative experience.
This is not the fault of the Omani employee, and it is not the fault of the customer. The responsibility lies with the system that places people in sensitive roles before giving them the knowledge, tools, and support they need to do the job well.
Omanisation should help build skills and capable employees. It should not be treated as simply replacing one employee with another. This requires proper training, clear responsibilities, and continued support after the employee starts the job.
