Cost Estimates and Content Information Policy

This policy explains how cost figures, planning ranges, dates, assumptions and source references should be interpreted across the website’s guides and public calculators.

Last updated: 9 September 2026

1. Purpose

Published figures are intended to make early research easier. They help readers identify cost categories, compare scenarios and prepare questions for official sources. They are not a substitute for a current authority fee notice, lease term, bank decision, tax assessment, insurer calculation or supplier document.

2. Types of Cost Information

  • Official published charge: an amount shown by a government authority or official operator on a stated date.
  • Indicative range: a planning range assembled from public information, common categories or dated examples.
  • Calculator result: an output generated from selected assumptions and user input.
  • Market example: a non-binding example for rent, staffing, insurance, transport or another variable commercial expense.
  • Case-specific amount: a figure that can be confirmed only by the relevant authority, institution, landlord, carrier, vendor or other decision-maker.

3. Dates and Source Context

A figure is meaningful only with its source, date and scope. Government charges, economic-zone incentives, bank requirements, rent, exchange rates, tax treatment and operating costs can change. Where a page states a publication date or data date, that date limits the figure’s reliability. The current official source controls if it differs from an older website statement.

4. What an Estimate May Include

Depending on the guide or calculator, an estimate may group some of the following:

  • Government registration, licence, immigration or renewal charges.
  • Economic-zone, office, lease, deposit, fit-out or utility categories.
  • Translation, attestation, audit, accounting, insurance, banking or external-specialist categories.
  • Customs duty, VAT, excise, freight, terminal, inspection, storage or transport categories.
  • Household rent, utilities, food, transport, education, healthcare and lifestyle categories.

5. Common Exclusions

Unless a tool or guide clearly states otherwise, a result may exclude:

  • Activity-specific permits, sector approvals and regulated-profession requirements.
  • Additional shareholders, employees, dependants, branches, visas or locations.
  • Security deposits, guarantees, minimum capital, working capital and banking requirements.
  • Unusual document, translation, verification, testing, inspection or legalisation needs.
  • Delay, storage, demurrage, penalty, re-filing, amendment or dispute costs.
  • Changes introduced after the page or dataset was last updated.

6. Public Calculator Assumptions

A calculator applies a defined model to selected inputs. The result can change materially when the activity, legal form, location, office, number of people, document route, tax position, shipment details or lifestyle choices change. Default values are planning assumptions rather than verified facts about a particular user.

Calculator outputs should be read together with the notes and exclusions shown on the relevant page. A technically valid calculation does not confirm legal eligibility, approval, availability or completion time.

7. Currency and Conversion

Omani Rial figures may be displayed with an indicative conversion to another currency. Rounding, card-network rates, bank spreads, transfer costs and the timing of conversion can produce a different amount. The currency and conversion date should be checked before relying on a converted figure.

8. VAT, Tax and Customs

A displayed amount may be tax-inclusive, tax-exclusive, exempt, zero-rated or outside the scope of a particular tax, depending on the transaction and applicable rules. Customs duty and import VAT depend on classification, value, origin, regime and documentation. A general page cannot determine the final treatment for a particular transaction.

9. Informational Status of Website Figures

A website figure, table, example or calculator output is not an official fee notice, reservation, application, approval or contractual commitment. It does not reserve a government slot, company name, property, office, visa, bank account, permit or shipment route.

10. Corrections and Updates

Content may be corrected or updated when a source changes, a calculation issue is found or a clearer explanation becomes available. A revision does not mean that an earlier figure applied to every reader or case. Material decisions should always use the current official or contractual document.
